It wasn’t me who broke down!

Yesterday was beautiful weather and so I was planning to drive the VW through the weekend. I was at my parents to do an oil change on the truck, and afterward both my brother and I were going towards UMBC. So, we decided to both drive our respective VW’s. Just as we’re leaving old Ellicott City, Whit’s fuel pump broke. We pulled over and spent some time diagnosing the problem, and then tried to fix it on the road. That didn’t work, so I drove us both back to the house and we pulled off my fuel pump, and drove the truck back to repair his car. Now he’s back and running, but will need to return my fuel pump soon so I can drive my car.
Speaking of driving my car, when I got back to the house with Whit, my engine temp was around 215 degrees F! That’s way too hot. It should be around 185, maybe less. Over 200 is getting a bit warm. It’s been a problem ever since I installed the engine, and I can’t figure it out. I think I’m going to pull the engine out, throw some new parts at it, be very careful reinstalling, and see what I can do. I hate that I can’t drive 20 miles on a warm day without overheating!
