Maddness that was Memorial Day Weekend

May 30th, 2007 @ 11.12 pm

When I think of Memorial Day, I think of BBQ’s and relaxing in the back yard. Well, I did have some grilled food, but in other’s back yards. First, Beverly graduated on Thursday (Congratulations Beverly! Pictures are in the gallery), and that in turn led to graduation parties. But before them, I had Friday to get through. I went to my parents house with plans to do some tweaking to the VW and wash it, but instead my grandfather hurt himself and then drove to Walter Reed’s ER. So, my mom and I went down there, spent some time with him, and then drove him home. Turns out he bruised his chest and dislocated his little finger, so a bit painful, but nothing too serious.

On Saturday I started out with Beverly’s graduation / my 25th birthday party at her parents house. It was a good time of hanging out, eating food and generally relaxing. Then in the evening we headed down to Easton for Jared’s graduation/ birthday party (popular combo, eigh?). After that I was ready to get back home, while Beverly stuck around for some more fun with Jared & Co, then out to Katie’s house (my old neighbor!).

Sunday I woke up bright and early and went to my parents, worked on the VW a little, waited for Whit to wake up, and then we drove down to Manassas, VA for Bug Out 61. It was a good show with a large turnout. When we got there I wanted to find the crew from Slowriders because they’re a local club I’m interested in, and we ended up parking immediately in front of them. Since they’re a fairly loose club without dues that just want to hang out once in a while, I signed up, and even got myself a sticker to put on my back window. I wish I had gotten a decent picture of my car at the show, but I didn’t… and on the forums I check out, no one else took a pic of mine or Whit’s cars either. Oh well. I’m just glad we were able to make the 160 mile round trip without incident. I did have my engine running warmer than I like coming home, but it was 85 degrees out, and how my engine was running previously I would have been calling a tow truck, so I’m mostly happy with how it ran. Throughout the day I took pictures, and I’ve already got them posted in the gallery.

On Monday I sorta relaxed. Beverly and I did some wedding planning stuff throughout the day, including walking through Bed Bath and Beyond and Sears, and then checking out a park for and engagement portrait session coming up soon. Finally, about 9:30pm, I realized I had work the next day and the weekend was already ending.
