Homeowner

Way back in the fall of 2006 I was engaged to Beverly and living in a condo I was renting from a college friend while he went to law school. Looking ahead three years to 2009 when my friend was scheduled to graduate, I knew I wanted to live in a place I could have a back yard to toss the ‘bee and have a cookout, as well as a place I could keep at least my Beetle under a roof of my own. A townhouse would work for this, but a single family home would be even better. Unfortunately the housing market at the time was going nowhere but the stratosphere.
Last summer I started to look at houses online to see what was on the market in a price range we could afford. There wasn’t much available, especially close to where both Beverly and I work. However, as time has gone on, banks have been failing, homeowners have been foreclosed on, and prices are coming down. As we kept looking, we started looking closer to where we work. Early this year we found a few houses that were dated, but sturdy and in our price range. After thinking about it some, we put in an offer, and are now the owners of our first house!
We had been looking at 1960’s ranchers because they can offer great layouts and large unfinished basements ready to expand the living space in the future. However, we also found one colonial style house with plenty of wood paneling in a great neighborhood, which is the house we bought. As protection for myself, I’ve tried to never give out my phone number or address on this website, but if you know me, send me an email and I can tell you exactly where it is.
It has taken nearly three weeks for me to put this post up, and so you can probably guess that I’ve been spending hours every evening and weekend working on the house. Maybe once we move in I’ll have some more time to relax and continue to update this site, but until then, the posts may be few and far between.

Congratulations on being a homeowner and on your marriage. Just found your website, and wanted to let you know how happy we are for you. We would love to have your new address.
