Wildwood Beach Ultimate

August 7th, 2008 @ 12.38 pm

The weekend right before Beverly and my first anniversary, we made the trek up to Wildwood, NJ for the Wildwood Beach Ultimate tournament, the largest in the world (or so I would think). There were 310 teams in the tournament, broken down into several divisions. There were divisions of 2 guys/ 2 girls, 3 guys/ 1 girl, competitive, and non-competitive. We were in a 3/1 non-competitive division, particularly one of the 3/1 Prima Pilsner divisions. Playing under the team name “Disc in a Box,” we managed to win two of the three round robin games, and then the Pre-Quarter Finals game on Saturday. Then we partied (of course), and I was the first one asleep, probably around 11pm because I’m old. Read the rest of this entry »

Catching up with posting

July 20th, 2008 @ 11.54 pm

Ok, so I haven’t made a real post since the first half of May, and it’s already the second half of July. You could say I’ve been busy. Between May 30 and June 30 I crossed the San Francisco bridge, went to the top of the Seattle Space Needle, took a quick photo of Stonehenge, and rode to the top of the St Louis Gateway Arch. Is that a lot of famous landmarks or what? I feel like the only things I’m missing from that list are the Great Wall in China and the Sydney Opera House.

Part of the travel was from a vacation Beverly and I took out to the west coast. We used all my frequent flier miles/ points to cover most of a vacation driving from San Francisco to Seattle over six days. It was a huge blast, and once I ever get the photo’s edited, I’ll put them online for you to enjoy. Read the rest of this entry »

Women’s Rookie Tournament

September 24th, 2006 @ 10.26 pm

On Saturday I tagged along with Beverly and the rest of the UMBC Women’s Ultimate team as they attended a one day rookie tournament hosted by Maryland at their campus in College Park. I’ll cut to the chase, so if you don’t want to keep reading, the pictures are at http://www.jeremyweber.com/gallery/womensrookietourney. For a while I was the only male on the fields, until another guy showed up for one of the other teams. In total, I believe I saw three guys, including myself, within the fenced in region of the fields. Read the rest of this entry »

what a weekend

July 10th, 2006 @ 7.35 am

This past weekend Beverly and I played with a bunch of mostly UMBC’ers in the first Mingle Over Maryland tournament hosted by Mingle Over Muffins (MOM). On the first day we started out losing to Bond, then played SOBO for our first victory, had a long break where many of us ate lunch, then played a close game where we ended up losing to MOM, and then finally ended the day with a big comeback push beating Fission. That left us at 2-2 for the day.  Sunday we started off losing to Mothers (I think that’s who it was), then beat Mothership Connection (no connection to Mothers), and finally lost in the Chumpionship game to MOM in a game to the high score of seven. I took some pictures (along with Beverly and one by Tom Petitt using my camera), and I’ll try to get some online within a week, so stay tuned to your favorite bat channel.
