When it rains, it snows

March 5th, 2008 @ 12.21 am

Right now life is really serving up lemons. Last week I ended the week in Zebulon, NC, and while I was away my parent’s house was broken into. On Friday I got back to the office at 5pm and spent a couple hours getting ready to fly out to Indianapolis on Monday morning. After a very short weekend (literally), I’m now in Indianapolis and it’s Tuesday night. While I’m stuck here, Beverly’s new (2003) Jetta broke down. It seems like the alternator died today, but I’m hundreds of miles away and can’t do anything, again. Luckily she was near her parents house and with friends, but now she’s borrowing a car from her parents. Rather than me being able to comfort her or look at the car and try to fix it, I can’t. I feel completely useless.

And normally I like snow, but I’m just tired of winter, but there’s about an inch of slush on the ground here. Before the slush was rain that’s been falling since the plane landed yesterday morning. When it rains, it snows. I guess I need to make a snowman?

Poll: Door open, or closed?

June 14th, 2007 @ 2.46 pm

Many of you have noticed that I haven’t been around much this month, and it’s because I’ve been in Belgium since the 3rd on yet another business trip. (OK, I know no one really noticed… but I like to stay delusional) In the time I’ve spent here I’ve been staying in a hotel room trying not to be too bored after work in the evenings. One thing I’ve pondered is whether or not people close the bathroom door when it’s just them. I know I feel weird if I don’t close the bathroom door, even though there’s no one in the rest of the hotel room. So how about you? When you’re in a hotel by yourself/ home by yourself, do you close the bathroom door, or leave it wide open?

Life at 200mph

May 15th, 2007 @ 10.11 pm

Well, I haven’t been quite driving 200mph. But I was flying at over 500mph for hours on end last week. Since I last posted anything life’s felt like it’s going 200mph. Beverly and I have been working on lot’s of wedding planning (not fast enough for everyone, but we’re doing our best), I’ve spent time working on the VW, my softball team has been losing, and I even spent a week in England.

The month started off with me finishing off reinstalling my VW’s engine with a new oil cooler and no pesky tarboard insulation, then driving it all weekend the 5th and 6th. Then on the 7th I flew to England to do a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for the big project I’ve been working on at work. Last year when I went over we were chauffeured around, but this time I got a “hire car” (ie, rental) and drove myself! I did cheat and get an automatic (uncommon over there), but I can already drive stick so I’m still proud of myself. The trip ended with a quick visit to London and a flight back on Friday.

On the run…

September 6th, 2006 @ 8.13 pm

I’m sure if you’re one of the three people that read this (Beverly, you and myself) you’ve noticed I haven’t posted since the middle of last month. Well, I’ve been busy, so deal with it. Really, I have been! For work I was in Chicago in the beginning of the month, then I went to Puerto Rico for four days, had a week in the office, then took three days and a weekend of vacation. After getting back to work for a day and a half, I was on the plane to Denver for another trip, got back at 1am late Friday night to kick off the holiday weekend, and left Tuesday morning an hour earlier than normal as I drove up to Newark Deleware for another business trip. Add on top of all this go some attempted wedding planning. In total I out of town for a total of fifteen days in August just for work and vacation. Read the rest of this entry »

Greetings from England!

June 14th, 2006 @ 1.49 pm

What?  Jeremy’s in England now?  Yes, that’s right.  Last month I went down to Puerto Rico, and now I’m in Birmingham, England until tomorrow.  It’s been a neat experience being over on this side of the pond.  The flight over wasn’t too bad, though it was 7 hours long and I basically lost a night’s sleep due to it (overnight flight and a 5 hour time change… it’s 6:45pm here now, 1:45pm in B-more).  We flew into Heathrow and had a chauffer company pick us up and take us up to Birmingham a good hour North of London. Greetings from Puerto Rico!

May 17th, 2006 @ 6.21 pm

As I write this I’m sitting in the hotel lobby at the Embassy Suites in Dorado, Puerto Rico.  I flew in Monday morning for a startup of a machine our company is installing at a local plant down here.  During the day I’m working in a construction zone with spanish everywhere as my coworker and I are the only ones who don’t speak spanish, but we’re getting along, albeit being a bit sweaty as it’s constantly 85 degrees and 90% humidity.  Oh well, it could be worse, I won’t complain about being sent to a tropical island for two weeks.  And yes, the photo’s on the website are accurate, and I’ll try to post some of my own when I return.
