almost done

May 7th, 2002 @ 12.00 pm

Almost done. Almost. One more week of classes, and then finals. The only reason I want the semester to end is because I’m tired of doing work and taking tests. As of the last week, my mind pretty much shut down. I’ve been trying to think, even remember what I did yesterday, and I just can’t anymore.
So far this summer I know where I’m living. I wanted to find an internship, but since I didn’t know where I was moving to, I didn’t want to apply for something that’s be a long drive. Therefore I only applied for one, which I didn’t get, and now I’m gonna be sitting around my new house with nothing to do like the first 18 summers of my life. Unfortunately now, I don’t know anyone who lives in the county. Anyone want to have sympathy and visit me (I’ll have a pool), or invite me over? I can guarantee I’ll probably be free. -ymerej

sectionals, oh and i’m moving

April 17th, 2002 @ 12.00 pm

This weekend is the big tourney. Sectionals. If anyone’s in Salisbury, come watch us - it’s at Salisbury U. Other than the tournament being at Salisbury U, the only other thing I know is that we’re spending Saturday night at my house in E-town. Yippee! I get to go home another time before I move! Yes, I did say move. That’s right, at the end of May I’ll be moving from E-town to Sykesville (Carrol county). So, anyone from E-town that want’s me to hang out, invite me over for the night cause it’ll be a long drive (though I’ll have to come back a couple times to play frisbee in the summer). -ymerej

what God’s been teaching me

March 13th, 2002 @ 12.00 pm

Throughout my life my mom has stressed the idea of living simply and that less is more. Recently I’ve been seeing this idea being presented by others. Those presenting seem to think it’s a great idea, and are surprised that it’s been around for a long time. In Matthew 19 Jesus meets a rich young man that wants to go to Heaven. The man has followed all of the ten commandments, but has become very materially rich. Jesus told him to sell all his posessions, give to the poor, and follow him. Jesus has called us to live this simple life. Yes, we do need some posessions to live, and he will bless us with materials, but we shouldn’t covet them. I strongly believe that living a life without a large house, four cars, and ten pairs of black shoes is much more fulfilling and pleasing to God than a life devoted to gaining the most. The saying “he who dies with the most toys wins” is not what Jesus taught, but the view of our self serving society. -ymerej

ultimate schedule

March 6th, 2002 @ 12.00 pm

Ultimate frisbee is the ultimate sport, otherwise it wouldn’t be called ultimate, right? Well, anyway, here’s a list of the upcoming tournaments for the rest of the semester: Huck o’ the Irish March 16-17, Sectionals April 20-21. If you’re not already on the team, you must join. You have no other choice. If you want, you can check out the teams website at http://userpages.umbc.edu/~tcarl1/Frisbee/UMBCFrisbee.htm. -ymerej

Note: The team now has a more official website at http://sta.umbc.edu/orgs/umbcfrisbee/

30 hour famine

February 15th, 2002 @ 12.00 pm

On the weekend starting spring break (March 22-23) a bunch of us are going to be doing the 30 Hour Famine, a nationwide event that raises money for poor and starving families around the world. We’re not doing it on the national date, but later so we could advertise and get as many people involved as possible. See the link in the links section for more info. -ymerej
