big oil leak

After a month of running well, I tried to fix a slight oil drip, but I think I failed to tighten a hose clamp enough which resulted in 2.5 quarts of oil being dumped onto Rt. 40 at 11:45 Sunday nite. I put the hose back on (I carry lots of tools), but found I had no oil. So I drove a half mile w/o oil to a gas station, called home and mom brought oil. After not tightening the hose clamp enough it came off almost immediately after leaving the gas station and dumped out all the oil again. When I got a green light I pushed the car across Rt. 40 into the next gas station, and fixed it again. Then we drove home, very gingerly. Another problem getting worse is the brakes. They’re not staying pumped up, so I guess there’s a leak I need to hunt out and fix. Other than those two problems, the car’s been running great and has been a blast to drive once again!

wow, it’s been nearly a month since anyone posted here! well, in that month i got the new engine in, drove it some, and even managed to have another screw fall into a cylinder! Since then it’s sat a bunch, but I’m regaining some trust in it (i don’t have much with all the trouble i’ve had). after extracting the second screw i discovered that they’re falling out of the throttle bodies when i either put on or take off the carbs. right now i’ve got it tuned ok, but i think i need to advance the timing a degree or two, but i’ll see.
in other news, i found a job! it’s for L2M Consulting Engineers, a very new division of L2M Architects. What I’ll be doing is HVAC, electrical, and plumbing design. I’m starting out part time, so we’ll see how this job goes. It has potential, but I have some hesitations. Well, it’s a start, and more $ than sitting at home!

new galleries

i finally got around to making the galleries for bug out 55 (vw show) and spring break in daytona, and put them in the pictures section. also, while i was at it i completely redesigned the gallery (except the main page) so you now get to view thumbnails before the whole picture.
