bug out 57 pictures are up!

June 13th, 2005 @ 8.13 pm

last night i remembered i hadn’t put any pictures from bug out 57 on here yet. well, i went through them and came up with the best 31 pictures and put them in the gallery. a special thanks goes to beverly and madison for coming with me. i know it was a bit boring for them, but i really enjoyed having them along and it really made my day. there’s nothing like cruising in the vw with the windows down and friends to hang out with.

almost reliable….

but it’s not. I finally broke down for the first time this year in the vw yesterday. This time the cheap tarboard that acts as sound & heat insulation between the engine bay and passenger compartment melted, slid down against the engine and partially blocked the fan, causing the engine to everheat and melt the tarboard even more. It was kinda bad looking when smoke just keeps pouring out of the engine bay, but it wasn’t that bad…. sorta. I did make it home on my own power, but the intelligence of that can be questioned. With the vw’s running warm they may have the oil light flicker when idling at 800-900 rpms after running hard…. mine started to flicker at 1500rpms, so i know that engine was very hot. I even broke the oil pressure switch (it now leaks badly). My biggest complaint is the manufacturing of the tarboard that I used, as well as my stupidity in using it. The original looks like black cardboard with some tar impregnated in it…. the replacement I had was 99% tar, with a thread here and there, so I should have had the intelligence to guess that it would sag easily and block the whole cooling system of the engine. Now I get to pull the engine apart (or just pull it out) so I can put new tarboard in, replace the oil pressure switch, and replace the fried oil, and hopefully it’ll be good after that…

Oh well. In other news, I’m spending all my days at L2M as well as playing summer league on Wednesdays. Last week was awesome (though we lost 8-17 (or something like that) to Salisbury alum, though some of those guys were on the team that went to nationals, so we didn’t do too bad. I’ve got a week of vactation to use, but no idea when…. I should probably put in to take off so Beverly, a bunch of friends and I can go up to her grandfather’s cabin at Deep Creek Lake in August.

summertime and the livin’s easy…

May 22nd, 2005 @ 5.30 pm

it’s the weekend before memorial day weekend, and the weather’s cool, but still sunny and shorts/t-shirt weather. similar to the end of last month when the rain kept me away from the vw show, i couldn’t make it to cruisin’ oc this weekend. i really wanted to go and didn’t have anything holding me back, but i didn’t want to cruise two or three hours by myself in the vw just to get there and hang out with myself all day. earlier in the year beverly and i were planning on staying with her aunt and uncle, but beverly just had too much studying to do for three finals, and so did whit. oh well, maybe another year. so far i don’t have much planned for this summer, but i have five days of vacation to use up sometime, so with some heads up we (this means you reading this are included) could take a road trip somewhere.
also, i finally signed up for summer league, so i’ll be playing some ultimate again every wednesday evening. it should be fun, and since a bunch of us are asking to be on the same team, we should have a fun umbc alumni + beverly + some others to be determined team.

rain rain go away

May 1st, 2005 @ 12.03 pm

this whole past week i was keeping one eye on this weekends weather hoping for a dry day on saturday while trying to decide if i should drive two hours with the vw to a vw show east of hershey, pa, or if i should go to quadmania. after seeing rain in the forecast throughout the week that never materialized, and still no rain late friday night, there was still hope…. but when i woke up saturday morning it was to the sound of rain. not only did i not go to the car show, i didn’t go to quadmania either, just because it rained on the one and only day in the week i didn’t want it to rain. at least it’s not raining today (sunday), and so i plan on driving the vw down to umbc, then to columbia for church this evening.

hola hfs!

April 13th, 2005 @ 10.12 pm

a couple weeks ago whit informed me that hfs was back, but on 105.7, and only evenings and weekends, and the best thing about it being back is they are playing a bunch of older stuff mixed in with the new stuff, which means plenty of echo and the bunnymen, police, depeche mode, etc., which is stuff you won’t hear on 98 rock. so far i’ve been impressed…. now if only they could bring back weasel and the flashback cafe: that was the best part of the old hfs in the late 90’s.

farewell supertones

March 30th, 2005 @ 10.44 pm

last nite beverly, jared nave and i went down to nap-town to see the supertones on their farewell tour. it’s sad to see that they’re calling it a career, but it’s awesome that they lasted so long through many member changes and the death of ska years ago. i was surprised that they were playing such a small venue (riva trace baptist church) since last time i saw them was when they headlined purple door in 2000, but it was really cool at the same time. i had an awesome time at the show and glad i didn’t miss the awesome opportunity to see them. it’s really awesome how much they have a heart to worship god, and it really showed in their show. after the show beverly and jared got their album covers signed by matt morginsky and dan spencer, and we also got pictures with them. there’s a few pictures from the nite in the picture gallery.

I am Jeremy

Come, have a look around. Take your shoes off. Enjoy. Read through my rantings and ravings, or see the latest photos from last weeks car show/ ultimate tournament.
