Merry Christmas

December 30th, 2007 @ 8.04 pm

My new squarebackThis year Beverly and I spent our first Christmas together as a married couple (say “awww, how cute…”). I really didn’t want much, but she knew just what to get me. Not only did she get me a 50mm f1/8 lens for my camera, she also got me a flash and a new car! I took the photo of the car using the new camera equipment, just because I can. On Christmas day we spent some time here at the condo, and then late in the morning headed down to Anne Arundel County to see my family at my grandfathers, and then to see Beverly’s family and friends in Arnold.

Before Christmas day we saw Beverly’s extended family. First, it was the Kremann’s on the 16th, and then the Yu’s in North Carolina over the 22nd - 23rd. It was a long drive, but it was nice to see everyone in one place and to see the Zeisemer’s house finally. If you’re reading this and wondering when you can see the pictures I took while in North Carolina, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. I want to put the full size pictures up so the family can download them easily, but I currently am having web host issues preventing me from FTP’ing into my own account, and they haven’t been responding to my phone messages or emails.

As the new year approaches, Beverly and I aren’t 100% sure what we’re going to do for New Years, but we’ll have some fun, and we’ll see what 2008 brings.

Wedding Pictures

December 16th, 2007 @ 8.45 pm

Previously the wedding pictures could be seen on a SmugMug.com set of galleries, but due to some technical problems a whole new website has been set up to view the pictures from the wedding. They can all be found at http://davidhartcorn.com/darkroom/proof/?client/beverlyjeremy. The pictures were taken by David Hartcorn and his assistants.

For ordering copies of pictures, you should ask Beverly or Jeremy - they will have full size digital copies of everything. The ordering portion of the website does work, but if you try to order through the website, you will see all prices are set to $0.01.

Photo-a-Day

December 4th, 2007 @ 8.33 pm

For the past year or two I’ve been following one guy’s Photo-a-Day postings on a photography website, Pbase.com. He seems to be a young photographer trying to make a living with photography, and he’s also into VW’s some, although he’s more into the watercooled ones. What I’ve seen through his postings is how one is forced to examine the world around them a little bit every single day. It also forces the photographer to stretch their skills and come up with a new photo every single day. If you want to see his photo-a-day, it can be found at www.pbase.com/602crew/photo_a_day_3.

Why am I telling you about this? I’ve been toying with the idea of doing it myself for a year, maybe more. So much has changed in my life (and even more in Beverly’s) this past year, and yet I think I’ve taken fewer photos than in 2006. Sure, I want to enjoy life as it happens and not just relive what I saw through a viewfinder, but I also want to have pictures of my life, and stretch myself to become a better photographer. What do you think? Go ahead and leave a comment - should I undertake this challenge?

Our first Christmas Tree

December 2nd, 2007 @ 9.46 pm

Christmas tree 2007 Yesterday (Saturday) we went with most of the other families in our Bible study to a Christmas tree farm a bit west of where we live and sawed down some Christmas trees. There was a mistake in the shaking/ wrapping up the trees that resulted in the Sroka’s not getting a tree - it seems someone else took theirs in the shuffle of trees, but other than that incident we all got some nice trees. Afterward we invited everyone back to our place and had some tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches while Navy was beating Army to a crushing win.

Today we got the tree inside and set up with a stand borrowed from the Kremann household, and we got some lights and a star at Target. And of course we then put them on. Traditionally in my family’s house we used colored lights, but we decided to get white lights this year. I guess I just didn’t want to follow the tradition that I’ve always done. Hopefully my mom will still accept me as I am.

Google ranking

November 18th, 2007 @ 1.37 am

Every once in a while I’ll go over to Google and type in my name to see what comes up. Normally, I can’t find anything related to myself until the tenth page or so. Also, it never wants to even look at jeremyweber.com for some reason. Until now - I once again did a search for “jeremy weber” (without the quotes), and my website was the very first link! Now everyone can find me! (But that probably also means even more spam trying to leave comments…)

Slowriders Slam

November 18th, 2007 @ 1.30 am

Beetles at the Slowriders SlamBack in mid October Beverly and I attended my car club’s first car show, the Slowriders Slam. I really enjoyed it due to it being much closer than any other VW show I’ve attended, and it was much more laid back. Rather than being at a drag strip and having a bunch of vendors, this one was in Harford County, on someone’s field, and had no racing, and no large vendors. A few people were selling some parts our of their car, and there was one group brought in to sell some food (which was very good!), and that was about it. There was a sleepover the night before (I didn’t attend), and then we all just hung out for the day. Obviously I took my camera, and I finally got around to editing the pictures and putting them online, so go over to the gallery and check them out.

I am Jeremy

Come, have a look around. Take your shoes off. Enjoy. Read through my rantings and ravings, or see the latest photos from last weeks car show/ ultimate tournament.
