Happy Halloween!

October 28th, 2007 @ 11.53 pm

Pumpkins 2007 As the weekend was winding down, we got around to carving a couple pumpkins for Halloween. Beverly’s been wanting to do this for a couple years now, and the last time we did she was a sophomore living in Harbor Hall at UMBC. This year we didn’t have any special carving tools, but we did find that a smaller sharp knife and a small flat blade screwdriver were effective cutting tools. Enjoy the picture!

There was a request for some photo’s of the Jetta, and so this evening Beverly and I went over to Ellicott City and took a few shots just before it got too dark. The rest of the photo’s are in the gallery, so head on over there and check them out.

Beverly’s new car

October 6th, 2007 @ 11.18 pm

Beverly with the new Jetta and dead BerettaFor a while now Beverly’s wanted a new car… her ‘95 Beretta isn’t the most stylish of cars on the road, and it’s been wearing out. It stalls on startup occasionally, the defrost-fan-etc. knob just gained lots of character, the front end needs some re-aligning, and on Thursday the water pump sprung a leak and left plenty of antifreeze in Annapolis. So, the past few weeks we’ve been looking for a new (to us) vehicle for Beverly… one that’s not boring. That meant not a Honda or Toyota, and not tan/ silver/ grey/ black/ or white in color. And Beverly wanted at least a sunroof, which is a compromise of being part way to a convertible.

Thursday night (coincidentally) we test drove a Jetta GLI that was priced fairly well, and Beverly really liked it. She found the 6-speed manual transmission much easier than my Ranger’s 5-speed, and the 200HP/ 195ft-lb of torque a lot of fun. So we thought about it. Today we took the plunge, and bought that Jetta GLI. It’s a blast to drive! And it looks really good, especially with those 17″ rims, sunroof, and bright red paint. Read the rest of this entry »

Where’d all the color go?

October 1st, 2007 @ 9.42 pm

Recently we’ve been shopping for a new (ie, slightly used) car for Beverly to replace her Beretta. While shopping, we’ve been trying to find a car that is fun and different… or at least not another tan Camry or grey Accord. Tonight we drove down to Annapolis, and during the whole drive I was watching the oncoming traffic for fun vehicles. The part that disgusted me is that there were two yellow cars, one metallic orange Eclipse, about fifty red cars (mostly dark, boring reds too), and countless tan, grey, black, white, or somewhere in between colored cars. And the “blues” and “greens” count in those bland colors - all of them are nearly indistinguishable from grey and black anyway. My question is, why does every car have to be so bland in color? Honeymoon pictures!

August 28th, 2007 @ 6.31 am

We’re back (ok, we’ve been back for a couple weeks now), and the pictures from our honeymoon are online.  Don’t worry, they’re not all girly and mushy, or inappropriate.  And if you still don’t know where we went, it was Florida.  We stayed in the West Palm Beach area for a week, and then a few days on Sanibel Island before coming back home.  It was hot (very hot in the afternoon), but we had a great time hanging out on the beach not doing a whole lot.  Before you get bored reading this, we had a great time, and so go check out the pictures in the gallery.

I am Jeremy

Come, have a look around. Take your shoes off. Enjoy. Read through my rantings and ravings, or see the latest photos from last weeks car show/ ultimate tournament.
