FAQ

Here’s a bogus list of the most frequently asked questions. If you do actually ask a question enough times, I may be inclined to post it here.

Q > Why did you create jeremyweber.com?
A > Why not? While at UMBC I maintained a site on my school supplied account, but after graduation the continuation of that wasn’t guaranteed. Right now the fad is to have a myspace or facebook page, but I didn’t want to follow the trend of the month. By owning my own domain name, I can guarantee that my email account won’t go away (although I have had a Hotmail account since about 1998), and if I ever decide to market myself as a business, I already have a domain name to use. And finally, doesn’t everyone want to control “insertyournamehere”.com?

Q > Version 4.2? What was wrong with the previous versions?
A > Version 4.0 wasn’t very codes compliant, and wasn’t designed to be easily modified. Now I am striving to have this site comply with the rules of html 4.01 strict and CSS web standards. Version 4.1 was supposed to look like a simple facelift from the previous version rather than a whole redesign, and that version got a “colors and font only” facelift in late 2006. Now Version 4.2 has some of the structure under the website modified, enabling another facelift to the site. Hopefully I will be able to keep tweaking the version 4 of the website while keeping the look and content fresh (or at least not stale).

Q > What kind of site is this anyway?
A > One that has no real meaning to anything. It’s an outlet for Jeremy to be creative and share his life with whomever stumbles upon here.

Q > I hear you travel with your job a lot. How much is a lot, and where do you go?
A> I’d estimate I’m traveling one week a month, though that number varies a bit. The usual travel spots are New Jersey and Puerto Rico, although I have also been to Colorado, New York, Indianapolis, Toronto, England and Belgium, as well as a few other places.

Q > Let’s say I have a pet monkey and he just threw rocks at your windows…
A > You don’t. Therefore, he didn’t.

Q > Why are you never home?
A > How do you know? You never call to find out! But just to let you know, I get home from work at ~5:30 M-F.

Q > You still driving that old VW?
A > In short, maybe. Summer of 2004 I had a bit of bugs plaguing it that kept me from driving it more than a couple of times, and at the beginning of the fall I installed a new engine and transmission. Throughout the winter more problems arose, and as summer 2005 started, you guessed it, more problems. In 2006 I didn’t break down once (it’s because I bought the truck to tow it home with), but didn’t drive it more than a thousand or so miles. 2007 has me driving it a bunch more, often a week at a time. If only I had a garage where I live to keep it at, I’d probably drive it even more.
